Plates, glasses and bowls are wrapped one by one with paper in between. Clothes go into tall wardrobe boxes so they travel hanging. Beds, dining sets, wardrobes and showcases are opened only where needed and then covered fully in bubble sheet and stretch film. Fridge, washing machine, AC and TV get thick foam padding with hard corner protection.

Every carton carries a number and the room name. In old buildings we also mark which items must go down first, because the staircase decides the order. You get the full item list in your hand before loading starts, so nothing can be missed at the new house.

The Mahalakshmi and Lower Parel belt is full of offices, design studios, CA firms, clinics, salons and small showrooms — around Kamala Mills, Peninsula Business Park, Todi Mills, Worli Naka and the older commercial buildings near Jacob Circle. We shift all of them with the least possible downtime, usually on a Saturday night or a Sunday.

Workstations are dismantled and all screws are kept in labelled pouches taped to the same desk. Computers, servers, monitors and printers are packed in anti-static wrap and foam. Files and records go into sealed, numbered cartons with a written list attached, so no document is lost and no client file goes missing.

At the new office we set everything as per your floor plan, join the workstations back, place the seating and remove all the waste material the same day, so your staff can sit down and start work immediately.

Most breakage happens because of weak packing, not because of a bad road. South Mumbai homes often carry things that cannot be replaced — old teak furniture, marble tops, brass and silver idols, chandeliers, framed paintings, crystal and glass showcases.

For these we use two layers of bubble wrap, corrugated sheets on every corner and a wooden crate built on the spot wherever the item deserves one. Chandeliers are taken down arm by arm and each arm is wrapped separately. Paintings travel flat between hard sheets, never loose.

Every such package is marked GLASS – HANDLE WITH CARE on all sides with a red sticker and loaded at the end so it comes out first. Our supervisor checks each one before the truck door is closed. If you prefer to pack yourself, we can also supply just the packing material at a fair rate.

This is the part that separates a Mahalakshmi move from a suburban one. Buildings near Saat Rasta, Agripada, Gas Company Lane and the older lanes of Tardeo often have narrow wooden staircases, a lift that fits two people, or no lift at all. Sometimes the truck cannot come closer than the main road and goods must be carried fifty or eighty metres by hand.

Our loading team does this every week. They use trolleys, belts, ropes, shoulder pads and stair climbers, and we add extra helpers in advance when the survey shows a hard carry. Wall edges and railings are protected before the first item moves.

In the truck, heavy items go at the bottom and cartons on top, with all empty gaps filled so nothing shifts on the Sea Link, the Coastal Road or the highway. The truck is then covered fully with tarpaulin and tied — very important during the Mumbai rains.
